New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) business graduates may now apply to enrol in an online degree completion program. Husson University in Bangor, Maine, has partnered with NBCC and the University of Fredericton to offer an online Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (B.S. Business Administration) program for individuals holding diplomas in business from NBCC.

Students will be able to complete the program from their homes, offices or any other location with access to the Internet, in as few as five semesters. As the online courses will be delivered through a partnership with the University of Fredericton, graduates of the Husson degree completion program will also receive a Diploma in Advanced Business Studies from the University of Fredericton.


Admission Process

Admission to the degree completion program requires: (1) A diploma in Business from NBCC, with a minimum grade point average of 2.0;
(2) Submission of the University of Fredericton electronic application form that can be accessed by clicking here including:
  • A personal statement or short essay describing your professional goals, work experience, and current responsibilities;
  • An official transcript from the college granting your diploma;
  • Two letters of recommendation, preferably one from an NBCC faculty member and one from an employer (recommended forms can be accessed by clicking here) and:
    •  (3) An application fee $25.00.     Students will also be required to complete the "Education Testing Service Major Field Test in Business Administration" for statistical purposes only. This test will not affect a student's admission into the program.

    Tuition and Timeline

    Tuition may be paid course-at-a-time, in Canadian funds, payable to the University of Fredericton. Each course is 3 credit hours and the cost per credit hour is $423, resulting in the tuition fee of $1269 for each three credit hour course.

    The courses are delivered on a semester system beginning January, May and September.

    How much credit will Husson accept from my NBCC diploma?
    Husson will accept up to a maximum of 90 credit hours, or 30 courses, from your studies at NBCC. The exact number of credits will be determined as part of the evaluation of your transcript and your application.

    How many credits must I complete through the Husson University School of Extended Learning?
    You must complete at least 10 courses through Husson University, and at least 5 of these courses must be in advanced business studies. The exact number of credits and the specific courses required will be determined by you and your advisor based on your interests and your NBCC transcript. You must attain a Husson grade point average of 2.0 overall, as well as in all business courses to be awarded the B.S. in Business Administration degree.

    Are there any other requirements for the B.S. degree?
    You must meet the Husson University general education requirements. Your advisor will determine which of these you have already met through your course work at NBCC. You will also be required to complete the "Educational Testing Service Major Field Test in Business Administration". Your scores on this test will not affect your admission to the program, nor will your score impact the awarding of your degree. Your degree will be awarded based on the successful completion of your course work at Husson University. The "Educational Testing Service Major Field Test in Business Administration" is a test used by Husson University to evaluate their degree completion program.

    What is the Educational Testing Service Major Field Test in Business Administration?
    The ETS Major Field Test is a comprehensive assessments outcome designed to measure the critical knowledge and understanding of students obtained in a major field of study. It measures the students' factual knowledge and ability to analyze and solve problems, understand relationships and interpret material from their major field of study.

    This test enables an institution to evaluate their students' performance and compare the program's effectiveness to those at similar institutions nationwide.

    How long will it take me to complete my B.S. degree?
    We offer a sequence of ten courses over five semesters (two courses per semester) during the Fall, Spring, and Summer terms. Each course is 14 weeks in duration and requires 6-8 hours of coursework per week. Students who are awarded the maximum transfer of 90 credit hours from NBCC could complete the degree in this five semester sequence.

    Husson University is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc., through its Commission on Institutions of Higher Education.

    What if I really want an MBA?
    Students successfully completing the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree will qualify to apply for admission to the University of Fredericton's online MBA program.
