The University of Fredericton's Institute of Professional Learning is pleased to offer its newest Professional Diploma - the Integrated Disability Management Professional Diploma. It is designed to parallel the Safety, Health and Environmental Management Professional Diploma which is currently being offered.

The Integrated Disability Management Professional (IDMP) Diploma Program is designed for professionals and practitioners working in the field of disability management, or seeking to pursue disability management as a career option. Students come into this diploma program with an academic background in a related discipline as well as workplace experience in disability management.

An Integrated Disability Management Program is a management tool aimed at the mitigation of workplace illness and injury, as well as prevention of the same. Disability Management Practitioners require the technical, interpersonal, and business skills to be able to competently practice in the field of Disability management. As such, the IDMP Diploma Program provides students with the knowledge and tools required to develop, implement, maintain, and evaluate a workplace Integrated Disability Management Program. The demand for competent disability management practitioners is on the increase. Employers, regardless of size, are looking for guidance and assistance in the management of employee illness and injury, as well as mitigation of the related costs. In today's competitive workforce, disability management practitioners must bring not just life experience and motivation to the job, but real, tangible educational credentials and skills.

Within the IDMP Diploma Program, the areas of study include the disability management theory and practices; the related ethical and legal aspects; program development and maintenance; data management; program communication and marketing; management of mental health disabilities;, management of disability claims with strong psychosocial overtones; and prevention strategies.
