As a result of a partnership between Canadian Public Community Colleges, Husson University of Maine, and the University of Fredericton, students holding a two year diploma from a Canadian Public Community College can now take advantage of a career enhancing opportunity to transfer their diploma credits and apply them toward a Bachelor’s Degree from Husson University, of Maine.

Diploma-to-Degree in Business


Diploma + 1 Year (10 Online Courses) 

= Bachelor's Degree


Students who have graduated from the Business program from any Canadian Public Community College may now apply to enroll in a Diploma-to-Degree program completely online. Husson University in Maine has developed - in cooperation with Canadian Public Community Colleges and the University of Fredericton - an online Diploma-to-Degree program for two-year Business graduates. Students may transfer their credits to Husson University and complete a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration (B.Sc. Business Administration).

Students will be able to complete the program from their homes, offices or any other location with access to the Internet, by taking as few as 10 eight-week courses. As the online courses are delivered through the University of Fredericton, graduates of the program will also receive a Certificate in Advanced Studies from the University of Fredericton.

The Certified General Accountants Association (CGA) recognizes Husson University Business Administration graduates as satisfying the CGA degree requirement!

The Husson University Business Degree is accredited by the International Assembly of Collegiate Business Education (IACBE), which is accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).   

                 

 

Course Info


Students interested in obtaining the Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration must have successfully achieved a diploma in Business from a Canadian Public Community College. Students accepted into the Diploma-to-Degree program will receive up to a maximum of 90 credits (or 30 courses) for their diplomas. Students awarded the maximum prior credit will complete a minimum of 10 courses (30 credits) through Husson University. A minimum of five courses will be in specialized studies; the remaining five courses can comprise a variety of general education and specialized classes.

Admission Process


Admission to the Diploma-to-Degree program requires:
  1. A  two-year diploma in Business or Criminal Justice from a Canadian Public Community College, with a minimum grade point average of 2.0;
  2. Application for Admission at Husson University (available online) including a $40 application fee;
  3. A copy of an official transcript sent directly from the college granting your diploma to Husson University:

Students will also be required to complete the "Education Testing Service Major Field Test" for statistical purposes only. This test will not affect a student's admission into the program.



Tuition and Timeline
 

Tuition may be paid course-at-a-time, in Canadian funds, payable to the University of Fredericton. Each course is 3 credit hours and the cost per credit hour is $455, resulting in the tuition fee of $1,365 for each three credit hour course.

The courses are eight weeks in duration and require 10 - 12 hours of coursework per week. Courses are delivered in January, March, June, August, and October.

How much credit will Husson University accept for my Canadian Public Community College diploma?
Husson will accept up to 30 courses or 90 credits from your studies at a Canadian Public Community College. The exact number of courses or credits will be determined as part of the evaluation of your transcript and your application.

How many credits or courses must I complete through Husson University?

Students awarded the maximum transfer of credits (90) must complete 10 eight-week courses through Husson University. Students must also achieve a minimum grade of "C" in the specialized courses and maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.0 (or a grade of "C") in the overall program in order to receive a Bachelor's Degree.

Are there any other requirements for the Bachelor's Degree?
You must meet the Husson University general education requirements. Your advisor will determine which of these you have already met through your course work at the community college you attended. You will also be required to complete the "Educational Testing Service Major Field Test". Your scores on this test will not affect your admission to the program, nor will your score impact the awarding of your degree. Your degree will be awarded based on the successful completion of your coursework at Husson University. The "Educational Testing Service Major Field Test" is a test used by Husson University to evaluate this Diploma-to-Degree program.

What is the Educational Testing Service Major Field Test in Business Administration?

The ETS Major Field Test is a comprehensive assessments outcome designed to measure the critical knowledge and understanding of students obtained in a major field of study. It measures the students' factual knowledge and ability to analyze and solve problems, understand relationships and interpret material from their major field of study.

This test enables an institution to evaluate their students' performance and compare the program's effectiveness to those at similar institutions nationwide.

How long will it take me to complete my Bachelor's Degree?

The courses offered by Husson University are eight weeks in duration and require approximately 10 - 12 hours of coursework per week. Students who receive credit for 30 transferred courses (or 90 transferred credits) could complete their degree by taking as few as ten 8-week courses online. Courses are offered every January, March, June, August, and October.

Is Husson University accredited?
Husson University is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc., through its Commission on Institutions of Higher Education.

What if I really want an MBA?
Students successfully completing the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree will qualify to apply for admission to the University of Fredericton's online MBA program.
